1. Press the Select Product button to choose a product for which you’d like to create a DPP.
2. In the window that appears, choose a product available in your store. Then press Select.
Information you’ve entered into Shopify about this product will be sent to the generative AI model to create the Digital Product Passport.
You can also send additional information from a page in your store to the generative AI model that creates your DPP draft.
For example, if you have a Sustainability page or an About Us page in your store, you can select that page in the Additional input info section. Information from this page will be included along with your product and can enhance the text generated for your Digital Product Passport.
Templates in PicoNext contain sustainability attributes about your product – including attributes like raw material sourcing, environmental impacts, recyclability, and disposal information.
1. The Select template drop-down contains some pre-defined templates for common product categories. Select the template that fits your product most closely.
You can also create a custom template, with specific sustainability attributes to report on. To create a custom template for your product, do the following:
1. Press the PicoNext Console button in the Shopify app
2. Sign in with your PicoNext login credentials
3. Follow the instructions in the Save New Template section of the article Create new DPP Planner Product
1. Once you’ve selected a product and a DPP template, create a DPP draft using generative AI. To do so, press the Create DPP button. The generative AI model will then analyze your product information, along with additional input information (if any) that you’ve submitted.
After several seconds, the DPP draft will created in the cloud, and will appear in the Manage Digital Product Passports section.
In the Manage Digital Product Passports section of the Shopify app, you’ll see a list of all DPPs that have been created in your account. These include DPPs you’ve created using the Shopify app, as well as DPPs you’ve created in the PicoNext Console.
1. To edit your DPP, press the Edit button. The PicoNext Console will open.
2. If you’re not signed into the PicoNext Console, sign in with your login credentials. Once you’ve signed in, you’ll be automatically redirected to your DPP.
If you’re signed into the PicoNext Console, pressing the Edit DPP button will open your DPP directly in the DPP Planner. You’ll then be able to edit information in it, including any AI-generated text.
1. To view your DPP, press the View button.
2. Your Digital Product Passport will open in a standard, pre-formatted template on the productpassports.net domain. This is useful for previewing how the information will appear in your Digital Product Passport.
